    i have a 2005 a4 2.4 cabriolet

its fitted with the automatic / + - option gearbox

today i was experiencing a whining noise and then a crunching sound.
i lost all drive to my wheels. the car can be put into netural, drive, reverse, all with no effect. and if you shift back to park, it makes a noise sounding like cogs trying to mesh for around 4 seconds.
the car will still freewheel, and there is no flashing or warning signals coming up on the dashboard.

the problem at first i thought was a broken drive shaft but there are no visible signs of this.

could this be a new gearbox job? or is there a few simple checks that i could try first to locate the problem..

i have already e-mailed inde-tech at milton keynes for their input.

thanks in advance for any feedback i recieve..

    steve

How is your car now? Mine did the whining noise as I turned into the road I wanted a couple of weeks ago. No crunching sound thou. It appeared to lose gears.I parked it ,switched it of and restarted it 10 minutes later and I had no problems since.
