    Hi Guys,

I have a 2008 A3 with a dash mounted phone holder but only use the bluetooth facility as I don't have the steering wheel controls. I want to buy a cradle for the dash mount but have read in the hand book that 'many' phones disconnect from bluetooth when inserted in the holder. Does anyone know anything about this as I don't want to shell out £100 if the bluetooth doesn't work when the phone is in the cradle??

When the phone is in the cradle you dont use the bluetooth as the phone is connected through the cradle.

    Ok i will explain
If you use the cradle then make sure your phones firmware is valid, because the cradle is connected direct then there is no need to use the blue tooth as the phone prep will connect through the cradle as will the aerial.

If you retro fit mfsw then buy a battery charger for the phone and plug it into the cig lighter as blue tooth saps the phones battery charge level

You could always buy the rsap adapter (not cheap)this will convert phone prep low to prep high if your phone is rsap type.
This will kill two birds with one stone as it will reduce battery discharge and allow full blue tooth conectivity

    more info on the rsap
The Bluetooth Remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP) cradle adaptor is an enhancement of the factoryfitted
option "Mobile phone preparation - Low". It enables mobile phone handsets to connect via
Bluetooth Remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP) in the same way as handsets connect to the factoryfitted
option "Mobile phone preparation - High".
The Bluetooth rSAP adaptor is fitted to the same connection as all other adaptor cradles (either on
the dashboard or in the front centre armrest). The mobile handset is then connected to the rSAP
cradle via Bluetooth. When handsets are connected, the cradle enables the use of the external GSM
car antenna and deactivates the handset antenna in order to minimise GSM radiation in the car and
handset battery consumption. The handset is put into standby mode so battery power drain is
    minimal.
Once connected, the cradle connects to the handset automatically and details of up to four handsets
can be saved. Only handsets with Bluetooth rSAP functionality are compatible with this cradle. Details
of mobile handsets that are compatible with rSAP can be found on audi parts
Customer Benefits The rSAP cradle adaptor is flexible so can be used with a variety of different handsets. This
makes it future proof for compatibility with new handsets “Mobile phone preparation – Low” already has a Bluetooth connection but this only operates in a
mode called “Hands Free Profile”. This means that although calls can be made and received using
the car, the phones antenna and battery are operating at full capacity when making and receiving
calls. The rSAP cradle adaptor uses the cars external antenna and power supply to make and
receive calls which improves call quality and reduces handset battery consumption.
