Anyone know if you could put the instrument cluster from a 2000 A4 into a 98 A3??

My dads A4 cluster is white an looks so much better than the orange on my A3

    A4: http://www.impconcepts.com/audis4gau...letedash-2.jpg

or does it have orange coloured bulbs? or an orange filter that could be changed to white??

    any ideas??

first - your a3 - does it have flexible steel cable to accelerator pedal OR newer electronic drive-by-wire engine thottle ? (important)

second - recycled instrument cluster MUST HAVE Same transmission indicator display (ie: at or mt / other) (important)

third - it is best to have donor instrmt cluster from same model/same engine/same transmission/close to same year as you will have to "adapt" via software commands/instructions recycled cluster to your a3

"adaptation" includes recognition/handshake engine ecu/ immobolizer chip/ airbag contoller chip(s)/ transmission ecu

requires audi dealer-vag regional depot highspeed internet link to reset access/security codes while doing realtime "adaptation" between your dad's cluster and new/recycled cluster

someone with free download vag-com CAN'T do this

someone with paid subscription vag-com can only do part of this, but not reset passwords

requires dealer access to regional depot secure server...

FYI if you attempt to try anyway using vag-com on notebook, you can easily permanently lock immo in engine ecu and end up having to purchase both new instrument cluster AND engine ecu

just a proactive caution before you begin...

ok your dad has a4 and you have a3 - all above still valid
