I have a T reg 1.6 SR engine and was thinking about giving it some more power.

What are the possible options, how much do they cost and what increase do they give?

These engines (it will be either an AEH or AKL but most likely an AKL) are almost impossible to extract more power out of. Yes it can be done but the costs are so high that you would be better to sell the car and buy one with a turbo, either petrol or diesel and no, before you ask it is not a sensible idea thinking about a transplant. I would not suggest you go any further than a decent cat back exhaust and a replacement panel filter (NOT an induction kit) from K&N. Together these will give you about 3 to 5 BHP more for a spend of around £300 to £400. You could consider having it remapped but this will cost around £300 and mean you have to run the car on 99RON fuel (Shell V Power or Tesco 99) at all times with other suppliers 97RON fuels (e.g. BP Ultimate) only in an emergency, all for a gain of maybe another 5 BHP.

And if you 'forgot' to tell you insurance company, and had an accident and your mods were discovered, then the insurance company would be entitled not say, "You're not insured."

Patience my friend is a virtue, as the man from the 'Black Stuff' says, "He waits; that's what he does."

BTW, can you use English please rather than text speak, us old fogeys find it easier to read

Don’t worry, you will get old soon enough. If I could trade you my cheap car insurance for your 17 years and you take my 45 years I would do the deal.

X2, I think. However with age comes wisdom, or the ability to forget what you were worrying about in the 1st place.

Please, don't do this! It's for your own benefit!
