Hi, T reg Tdi Golf 110, had a diagnostic recently and the following fault code was identified. 01282 intake manifold change over valve. Can anyone tell me what problem this could cause, have a hot start problem at moment. Also is the intake change over valve the black sensor bolted to the top of the inlet manifold and what does it do?

That is the solenoid but the flap is in the EGR valve operated by the vacumm unit on the back and it gets clogged solid and jams shut so it stops them starting, sounds like they have lost all compression when they do it. The fault code you get is normally due to a broken wire.
