    Hi,

I'm considering retro fitting isofix brackets on a S Line avant, easy enough considering the captive nuts are already present. However after an enquiry to the main dealer it says that the brackets aren't available to my chassis no.

Has anyone had experience of this or know why the brackets aren,t supported by the dealer, or is possible to order the part and fit it anyway.

At nearly £40 a punt i want make sure it works before I order one

Hi, I'm not sure if you're aware, I'm also assuming you're using Britax too, that Britax have an alternative to the ISO Fix base.

It uses the belt to fix the base to the car, basically strap it through and clamp it down. It looks exactly like the ISO fix one, but doesn't use the hooks. It works just like the ISO fix base besides the belt thing, you just click the baby seat in and out.

I'm not using anything yet but i was looking to go down the isofix route, however i am aware of the alternative.

It's not really the answer i was looking for, i want to know if there was a technical reason why i cant retrofit a bracket, ie. the side impact airbags,

    Hi there,

I have the ISO-fix brackets, but haven't tried fitting them yet. Need to get hold of some new bolts as I got the brackets out of another A4. There should be no reason why they won't fit your car and mines. The reason the dealer has said that is they plug your VIN number into their computer and it comes up with a list of all the individual items that are on your car. Great for getting the right colour replacement rear view mirror with little or no fuss, a complete pain in the a*se when you want to buy something from them to Retro-fit!!

I will go down on wednesday and buy the bolts then try it and report back! (Wife has the car tomorrow otherwise I would do it then )
