Okay, here's an easy one. Brother-in-law has a new Polo and is fed up of people flashing him because the lights are on all day.

Can they be turned off (with or without VAGcom), or is he stuck with them?

According to the manual it is a mater of removing a fuse but I helped someone else with this and it did not work. I have not got my hands on a 6R yet but I imagine it is a coding value in the central electrics unit which will need a new value entering. Bear in mind that sometime in the next year or so I believe DRL’s are going to be a legal requirement. There is also the view that IF he is involved in an accident that it could be suggested may have been avoided had the DRL’s not been disabled, his insurance company may take a dim view...

7th February 2011 according to this document for cars and small vans, trucks and busses follow in 2012.
