    Hi,

I would like to be able to play my iPod in the golf which currently has the gamma head unit and in dash cd changer. Id rather not change for a new head unit as the gamma unit matches the display in the climate control and the rest of the dashboard quite nicely. I came across this on ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volkswagen-iPo...742.m153.l1262

Seems to do the trick and unlike others Ive seen says that you can still use the CD Changer. However it then occured to me that the in dash changer is actually just a single CD unit as far as the gamma is concerned. ie you use the changer buttons to select the disc and then just play the tracks using the gamma selection buttons in CD mode. I was wandering how this would work with the ipod unit really? Does the gamma have a seperate input for a cd player and an external changer? Theres a CC button I noticed which Ive never used, does this become the ipod button?

Does anyone have any experience with using one of these devices?

    Cheers

    Andy

Is this something youd have to go into the dealer and ask for? I cant find a VW product on the web anywhere.

    Cheers

Ignore what I said about the indash changer not being a proper changer. what I thought was a seperate CD changer button on the gamma "CC" is actually to select the tape. Id never used it! Why were VW fitting tape decks so recently?

I found the official VW kit on ebay it seems a bit more expensive than hte non-offical kits, the main issue for me with it however is you have to disconnect the CD changer to use it. The previous one I posted aparently lets you use both simultaneously, although it doesnt explain how it acheives that.
