Hi. i have a VW Passat 1.9TDi Estate (R-reg), my central locking works ok but does not lock the boot. i cant even use the key in the boot lock to open / lock it (key does not go in the lock fully). If i place my ear against the trim on the tailgate i can hear the mech working when i use the remote central locking. Has anyone got any suggestions? How do i remove the trim to look at the mech?

    Kindest regards,

    Alan

    Hi Alan,

You can follow my guide here to get into the bootlid:

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum//...ead.php?t=5845

I had the boot lock fail on me, it was the solenoid in there that went. It’s all pretty obvious what goes where once you are inside. Once you are in there you might want to check that the rear wash wipe isn’t leaking. They often do, which causes all kindsa problems.

    Cheers,

Hi thanks for your help, i managed to remove the trim and get to the central locking bit. The lock is definately jammed but i managed to get the remote central locking working (for now) looks like the solenoid (little white plastic box) needs replacing as it was sticking a few times. Any idea what this is called / where to get one from and how much?

    Kindest regards,

    Alan

I just went to my local indy garage and told them that I needed the solinoid for the boot lock of my passat, and told them the year of the car. They got it sent to them. It is probably as cheap to go to your local dealers. Cost me about £15, wasn't too bad.
