Have set my heart on getting one of these but really struggling to find out what 'real life' economy will be like - i.e. not what the official combined figure says.

Also as am looking to buy 3 yr old just about out of warranty, anything else I should be aware of in terms of costs lurking around the corner ??

I have an A6 3.0 so almost the same.

I get 25-30 mpg around town and can get up toward 43-44 on a decent motorway run.

    Hi,

On a brimmed tank full (about £60) I've been getting just over 500 miles which works out around 38mpg (if my calculations are correct!) That's a mix of 65% motorway 35% urban. My car has a performance remap though (only active at 50% load or 50% acceleration).

I have noticed a huge increase in economy by dropping my motorway cruise speed from 80 to 70.. sure, my weekly commute takes 10 -20 mins longer but I don't mind at all. It makes for a more relaxing and safer journey anyway!

I will work out what the improvement is once I finish my current tank of fuel.

As I've said many times before on here.. going for the 3.0 V6 (over a 2.0 straight-4) is all about paying a small premium (sacrificing a bit of fuel economy) for the joy of owning a silky smooth V6 with bags more torque!

I couldn't recommend it highly enough.. but DO make sure you get the 230bhp version as the 204bhp is a little lacklustre (or if you do get a 204bhp... I highly reccomend a remap froma reputable company).

I have a remapped A4 204 Bhp 2006 model. The performance is phemononal.

Its much smooter and eager, especially in sport and sounds much sweeter than the standard engine.

The average MPG is 44 (average) on the trip, on a motorway run i have seen 52 to 57mpg. Best 400 quid i spent on the car.

If you get one get it chipped.

Hi Jimbo, where did you have yours chipped and what are the increased figures that the remap is supposed to give?

I take it you got a performance remap as opposed to a Eco remap?

    Regards

Dragon Performance Eco/Perf Map. Not the pure Performance map.

Not quite sure what the bhp top end is, but it sounds like a petrol, goes like a rocket and the first time i took it out i blinked and i was over the ton!

    Jimbo.
