Hi Guys, so as I was driving up the M3 this morning, I started to hear a weird noise coming from the rear of the car. I pulled over and sure enough the tyre was a bit low. I put some air in and carried on my journey and the noise went away. On the way home however the noise came back, upon closer inspection I could see 3 or 4 big bulges on the inside of the rim! How could this of come about? I havn't over inflated the tyres and I'm pretty sure I've not driven over anything. I was thinking of deflating the tyre and re inflating to see if they went away or would this not do anything? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Matt,

You've run the tyre at Too low pressure, the continued flexing of the flat tyre at the bottom of the rim as it rotated (squashed, straightened, squashed, straightened etc) has de-laminated the rubber in the side wall.

You've knackered the tyre. DO NOT DRIVE ON IT!!!

Change to the spare and get a new one ASAP.

It's now highly dangerous as the whole side wall may blow out, and it's illegal. 3 points on your licence.

Sorry mate, you should check your pressures at least once a month...far cheaper than new tyres or writing off your car with a high speed blow out!

    Regards
    D
