My airbag light on my 98 a4 2.5tdi quattro is on. The fault code I have is

01222 Crash Sensor Airbag passenger side G180

    44-00 short circuit.

I have disconnected the wires under the passenger seat (red plug one wire and yellow plug 2 wires. The terminals were clean. I reconnected them and used a cable tie to prevent any movement of the connectors. Tried a reset and the airbag light is still shown same.

I would appreciate some advice on this.

    thanks

    Good News

I removed the seat ns and lifted the carpet. The ns off the car had water ingress.

The shock sensor mounting bolts and connections were all rusty. I dried the car out and cleaned up the bolts and terminals.
Used Vagcom to reset the ecu.
The air bag light has now cleared. I have left the carpet out whilst I identify were the water came from. I removed the nsf and nsr door seals and re sealed them , applied a pressure washer around the doors and as now it appears watertight.

    Thanks for your help.

sounds like the drain holes in the plenum chamber are blocked.

remove battery, and clear them. ( also often one under brake servo)
