How does your A4 drive - vibration through accelerator pedal

Hi all

I've noticed a droning vibration through my accelerator pedal when cruising at speed i.e. 40 up to national. Its more noticeable when I feather the accelerator lightly during motorway driving.

Its like a tiny be constant droning vibration which is very annoying. It seemed to start when I took my car into the dealer and they 'updated the engine software'.

I also noticed vibration through the car at idle i.e. when sitting in the car in the morning I feel vibration through my back side sometimes lol

The car drives slightly different in first gear which is probably expected with such an upgrade - its less harsh when accelerating in 1st gear but more restrictive (if you know what I mean)

I have it book in at Audi again but would like to go with some further information or see if anyone has had a similar issue. I know a few have had issues with the engine/gear box mounts so thinking this could be a possibility??? or it could simply be the engine reacting badly to the software upgrade???

General question to all - how does your Audi drive? Do you feel any vibration at all through the acceleration pedal or anywhere else in the car when driving? - cheers!

I get a kind of vibration/lumpy feel through the pedal and the steering wheel but it happens at any speed.Also if i keep the clutch pedal in i,m sure i get some feedback,lumpiness then also.Have not taken it back to audi for a check though as i'm sure it would be charactaristic of the car.One more thing,when i reverse on full lock i get a high pitched squeal,took it to the garage for this and the buggar didnt do it on that occasion.

Hi,

I notice you don't mention the clutch anywhere in your post... do you have a manual or an auto mate? (I presume it's a manual).

Perhaps a daft suggestion: you haven't had your CAT / mid-section exhaust replaced recently have you? Sometimes a badly positioned exhaust pipes can cause vibrations (although mainly through the gear stick as opposed to the pedals).

How many miles has your car done? Is it possible your clutch is on it's way out?

Lastly, what's your engine please?

Its a 2.0 tdi, done under 40k, manual

Had clutch replaced which made the clutch so much smoother but still getting vibration through gas pedal. I'm not sure whether its just general cabin vibration now as I sat in the passenger side and could feel the vibration through the floor

Dunno whether its just me with a hugely sensitive foot lol

Howdy. My b7 (2005 19tdi se saloon) shudders and vibrates when idling and at around 2000rpm. its the flywheel. that can become 'unbalanced' casuing the shuddering/vibration. Its really noticeable on my motor but after some local warranty screwing with the dealer ( not audi but has block exemption for servicing) getting it sorted next week. Bit annoying as the car has only 70000 miles but its very common apparantly as most new cars have these dual mass or floating flywheels. getting mine replaced with a solid wheel so hopefully no more problems.

The purpose of the dual mass flywheel, mostly fitted to Diesels are to reduce vibrations caused by the long stroke characteristics of the engine, a solid flywheel will increase vibrations, not reduce them.

Its the dual mass wheel causing the problems - its become unbalanced the solid wheel is much less likely to become unbalanced.
