Mk2 golf Gti Gearbox Problems!! :(

Looking for a little advice! just refitted my clutch and gearbox to my mk2 89 gti, replaced the clutch leaver as old one was snapped and never thought anymore bout it

went to try the clutch and the pedal goes flat to the floor like it did when leaver is snapped!!

just wondering if i have fitted the leaver wrong? doesnt seem to go far enough round to push the rod through the gearbox!!

so any suggestions? can the leaver fit more than one way? or im i missing something??

thought i was there and now im back to square one!!

This might sound silly but is the gearbox on nice and tight? I've had a similar issue before by the sounds of your problem and it was literally due to he gearbox being a bit loose....

was the clutch very heavy?
the little leve in back end of gearbox should only fit one way
the push rods wear
not being silly did you fit centre disc for pushrod to clutch
also i have had the clutch cables fail and snap the mounting where it goes through the pelham chamber into the car
