    Hi All,

I recently had my gearbox reconditioned from a friend of a friend. The problem with it was the diff, the rivets which hold it in place broke causing damage. When this happened, driving the car felt like a learner driver was behind the wheel, it just jerked when taking off and at low speeds.

Since I got it back it drives fine but when I’m driving and take my foot off the accelerator when slowing down I hear a whining noise. The guy who reconditioned it said the gearbox oil needs changing as there might be some "bur" from the wear of the new parts bedding in.

Do you think this is the case and if so, how do i change the gearbox oil. I'm not sure where the drain plug and the filler plugs are?

Can anyone help me with this?

    Thanks

    Tony

I do not think changing the oil will solve the problem.

I think Kenny is right M8, did u have cluch changed at same time.? it would be contaminated with oil from rivet failiure and need replacing?

    whats ur gbox code??

Your supposed to fit a bolt kit replacing the rivets, providing the casing damage could be welded

For your own peice of mind u could drain the oil over a big magnet and check for "burrs" but i would have expected any box specialist to have flushed it and checked it over. is he saying he forgot to do this?
