Hi, With hte help off this site I've resolved the soaked CCM problem. Basically, Disconnect the battery neg lead, clean out the plenum chamber drains, lift the carpet in front of the passenger seat and remove the CCM. Dry out the pcb and housing and the carpet:just raise it for a few weeks on a couple of pices of wood. Unpick the loom lacing and repair the splices (about four of them). Reconnect everything, pray and all should be well.
    Best of luck, Quantum_man

Hi, had the same wet problem on my passat, hopefully solved it by cleaning all drains. Thinking to check CCM as there was some funny thigs going on-head light comes on, interior light stopped working etc. Is it really hard to access CCM/remove carpet? what needs to be removed? I could not find any useful guide on how to remove carpet
    thanks , Siarhei

at front of passenger door under glove box is a small panel remove small round cover, remove screw.there is also a small clip holding cover on,u will see it when prising cover back, unclip.
trim running along inside off door hed on with clips, click this off,you can then lift carpet n see black box.mine had what looked like condensation on floor, not really what you could call a leak, dried out with haidryer, half hr job

Remove panel by passengers left foot and front of sill trim after removing screw cover caps and screws. The sill trim lifts vertically up. It is flexible and may be gently persuaded up to the headrest and tied out of the way. Be brutal with the carpet and lift as much as you can to access the CCM in a large black box in front of the drivers seat. Remove Battery neg lead and unclip CCM housing and remove it Unclip inner box, dry everything in site. The foam under the carpet holds several litres of water. About 100 to 150mm from the unit are four crude splices that will have oxidised and gone brittle cut them out and splice in new wire. The original loom was made in Turkey by a turkey. Leave the trim off for as long as you can to ensure the foam is fully dry. I mean several weeks. When all is dried and reconnected all should be well. My *********** wanted £750 to do this repair but it will cost you nothing.

VW quality eh? What quality. I've yet to do the persistant airbag warning light!
