After owning car ('02 TDI Passat) for just 3 weeks, I've been discovering little probs with electrics, ie interior lights not working when front doors opened ,headlights on warning alarm & low fuel warning indicator not working etc.
Have checked passenger footwell and you know whats there don' you?
On the good side it dosn't seem that bad yet as the ccm unit when opened up was dry inside and what water was in f'well was clean.
My question is what would be best way to go about drying out the footwell and what damage to look for in wiring looms etc .
    Thanks in advance.

Have you drained the plenum in front of the windscreen ?
Everything else has been covered here many times.
    Please do a search.

Thanks for reply Lex, but my question is not how to cure the leak ,but, is the electrical damage reversable, ie. can the wiring be dried out or will I have to replace the ccm unit definitely.
I've been searching but all posts seem to be about fixing cause of leak.

Don' worry about the recovery of the bits and pieces. See my thread Water ingress/CCM failure. Mine was out of action for over two months and I finally sorted it today at zero cost. Do not go to the *********** and give them three or four hundred quid, as it is quite easy to sort out yourself. The big problem is, when you move the module, the corroded wire splices break and therefore no circuit activity. Check the spices out.
