VW Golf Paint Code

I have a classic red golf mk3 and I am just wondering what code I will have to tell the people in Halfords when I am buying the paint. Will I have to tell them my Vin number and If yes where can I find the Vin number on my car. Will I just have to quote the Code LA3G.
Any help would be apreciated thanks.

You should just be able to quote the paint code, as to where the VIN is...

No, My car is darker. I think it is Classic red because that it the only other colour that it could be with the year it was made. My dad says that because classic red was made for so long halfords dont do just one can because it has changed shade. I think I will have to try and find the vin number. Thanks everyone.
