I bought a 2001 Golf V6 4motion in September. Since then I have had issues getting it to go into gear from start up. I think this is due to it having a hydraulic clutch. I tend to plant my foot on the clutch before starting up the engine in case I have left it in gear. Assuming it needs engine power to run the hydrauics, I think this is screwing up the intial gear change attempt. Its happned three or four times, but since not putting my foot on the clutch pre start up.. it seems ok !
Other issues include the 'boot open' warning light coming on after I use the rear wash wipe ! I think water is getting into the boot catch, causing a sensor to think the boot's open. If I don't use the squirty rear window thing, the light doesn't come on !
I also have an engine warning light just come on. Going to a VW specialist on Weds to get these issues looked at ! Any experince advice or comment apprecaitted. kind rgds JM

Rear wash wipe leaking, common problem. The pipe comes loose. Easy to fix, just remove interior hatch trim and it should be self evident what to fix.
