My 3.0TDI averaged 45.5 for a leisurely trip to Scotland and back over the weekend, and the average was up at 48.5 while I was just ambling up the M6/M74 with the cruise on 70. I'd hope that the 2.0TDI could do much better than that.

Only problem for me is short trips - that big lump of cast iron takes so long to warm up that even with careful driving I struggle to get 30-35 for anything less than 5 miles. In fact, on some of the recent very cold days with heated seats etc. on I've been down at 20-25!

I get 50-53Mpg on a 22 mile commute which is 2-3 mile through town and the rest on major A roads. This is taking it steady at around 65mph. When i push it to 70-80 i get around 45mpg.

I cant get more than 42mpg (normally max around 38-40mpg) on my 20 mile commute, 10 miles M23 and 10 miles through croydon rush hour

Motorway will be variable from 50 - 90 mph and stop start through town

Cant ever seem to get it higher?

    Well,

I did have the same concerns few months back...

The mechanic at Audi which verified that everything was fine with my car simply told me to wait (car not fully broke-in was the excuse he used)...

I tought back then..yeah! right... the usal bull...t!

Apologies to that mechanic because he was right!.. I got approx, 8K miles now on my car and the the MPG have visibily improved.

    Bless him

Hi there - had my 2.0 tdi 143 ps for 7 months now and on a suburban commute of 20 mile I am lucky to see 37-38 mpg - it is the the auto so I guess that brings it down. if I switch to the m way route - 25 miles then I can squeeze it up to region 42-44 mpg. slightly disappointing cos on my previous honda 2.2 cdti - manual - i could always see high 40's whether suburbs or motorway.

Otherwise - i just love it.

on a long run I can get over 50mpg regularly. On a run to the office in rush hour which is about 30 miles with about 20 miles on the m1 and m62, i get about 42ish. I'm not generally a slow poke either
