  1. Real world mpg ?

Hi, just like to say hello as I'm new to this forum, very useful info.

Anyway down to the nitty gritty, I am thinking about getting the new shape A4 Avant 143 ps TDI S-Line and wondered what you guys who run one, what the real world mpg is (particularly if you are running the 19" wheels).

I currently have a BM 1 series Msport 118d, which returns on average 55 mpg. I know the A4 Avant is a heavier car, but would realy like to know what the A4 2.0 ltr is capable of.

    Thanks.

I think I will carefully avoid looking at my mpg when the new car comes

    Hi,

I have a pretty long commute of about 45 miles though lanes and on A roads and I tend to get about 48mpg on that due to traffic. The overall average of the car seems to be about 44mpg and I don't try to be economical as I don't pay for the fuel!!! It improved by about 3 - 4 mpg with the MTM tuning.......

On a side note last week I had to follow a car transporter truck (long story - expensive thing inside - insurers worried blah blah blah!!!) for 120 miles mostly on motorways at about 60 - 65 mph. In my boredom I was flicking through the computer and it was reading 65.7mpg!!!! I challenge anyone to beat that!

I dont know how people manage these types of mpg's

I drive normally (sometimes heavy footed, sometimes light) and get about 32 (2.0TFSI Petrol)

    Jop,

I think that for a petrol engine 2.0L 32 MPG is not that bad.. I am used to think in Km/L which tells me that you are doing approx. 11 Km/L which ain't bad at all (very normal)

All the above MPG are for Diesel engines... which historically have always been better on MPG.

    Ciao

Well Im getting high 20s to low 30s on my commute to work, 12 miles. Real world figures in my view are no where near what Audi claim in the book!

I have low 40s tho on a long stretch of motorway 100 mile plus

I've got the 2.0 TDi and I get around 45-50 Mpg on a 50 mile commute in the morning made up of:

4 Miles - little twisty country roads
    20 Miles - fast Country B road
    20 Miles - A road/dual carriageway (heavy traffic, usually at 40-50Mph)
    4 Miles - Motorway
    2 Miles - Town Centre

I'm usually up to around 42 Mpg at the end of the fast country B road, this then creeps up to around 47 by the end, dipping slightly on the motorway.

This is on the standard 18" wheels and I'm usually heavy with the right foot when I can be (overtaking, dual carriageway etc), it takes me around an hour to cover 50 miles, when some clown in a day-glo vest isn't digging up the road. (which isn't very often currently)

I went out for lunch on Sunday and by cruising along a little more leisurely it easily crept up to 52.3Mpg.

Finally, a trip to Bristol (~240 miles) late one evening at between 80-90 gave me 51Mpg.
