PD injection pump setup

I want to chech that the injector pumps are set up correctly as it still misses from 1800 - 3000 rpm and I have changed the N75 boost valve today and it is the same.

Are these similar to the BMW ones in a Discovery whereby at full lift, the adjuster is screwed in and then backed off one full turn. If anyone has correct proceedure it would be helpful as I want to eliminate these as cause of problem

It's up to you but I wouldn't touch the pump until I was absolutely sure that the vacuum system and turbo were 100%. If you want to touch the pump do a net search on golf injection pump, you should find alot of info as the golf lads seem to have done alot of diy with the pump.

PDs don't have an injection pump.
excuse my ignorance,but what exactly are we talking about here?
individual injector settings perhaps?
are they adjustable?

I may not be correct in my terminology but my engine has idividual pumps for each cylinder drivven off the cam. The electronics on each pump then govern how much fuel is fed in each stroke. On my discovery it made a difference when these were set up correctly

yes,the pd engine has individual injector units as you describe,although
i didn't realise that they were adjustable mechanically(i haven't read of anyone adjusting them in search of more power,and i'm sure someone would have tried if it were possible)

I am going to get a VAG/COM kit and check out the MAF first as I should have described my problem as 'shuddering' rather than 'misfire'. I disconnected the MAF but that just went to limp mode. This MAF was replaced less than 18months ago as an exchange but I can't find the receipt now.

Are there any readings available using VAG/COM for the MAF to check that it is working OK?

Vag-com will give codes for a MAF problem. Presumably yours will show a code anyway as you disconnected the MAF. Vag-com isn't magic, a number of things could cause some of the codes, so you still have to eliminate possibilities.

The injectors are individually adjustable but it is an extremely time consuming process. The engine has to be rotated until each injector arm reaches max lift (I use a dial gauge) and the top pulley marked (I use a sharpe blade), then rotated further until the dwell is exceeded and the arm starts to return and thee pulley marked again. By turning the engine back to between the two marks you to find the centre of the dwell. Then the injector adjuster is released and tightened down until a firm stop is felt (very gently though, no force) and then the screw has to be backed off by 180 degrees (or 270 degrees depending on which book you read). This has to be done for each injector.
