    Hi,

I've looked at a coupe where the blower works on the highest setting but not on the other settings and carpet is wet in the front footwells which I think is related to the heater/blower problem. Is this usual for 1996 N Coupes and what is the fix for it?

Also, the oil pressure gauge flies straight up to the maximum it can - what is that a sign of or is that normal? I checked the dip stick and the oil level looked fine on that.

    Cheers. Emgee

I think that the blower only working on high is likely to be a broken resistor pack. Lower speeds are controlled by the switch having a series of resistors, and when these fail, then there's no current on that setting.

My coupe always used to run high oil pressure at initial startup, but then settle down after a few minutes as the oil heated up. I don't think it should shoot right up to maximum though.

Any thoughts on where the water is getting in - door seals? the carpets are very damp.

I read on another thread that water can pour in via the air pollen box if the seal is perished. Can anyone advise what the fix is for this - just use silicone?

I had the water in footwell problem, which was cured by checking / fixing the seal for the bonnet pull under the dash. Mine was comlpetely unseated allowing water to run through from the engine bay into the cockpit. This seems a common problem with an easy fix.

    Hope this helps,

There is also a thermal fuse on the resistor pack. Mine had failed and so the fan only worked on the high setting. I bought a new thermal fuse from Maplins and all is now OK.

I have checked the bonnet release and the area had lots of leaf sludge in there which I have cleared. The grommet seems to be fine but the problem with water in the footwells is on the passenger side as well. Any ideas why it is wet over there (no sunroof on the car)?
