Hi new to the club after purchasing an 02 TDi 130 sport but unfortunately seem to have a common problem. The headlight adjusters are obviously terrible and it seems most come overwound and pop out. The white star/cam/gear below the hex adjuster has broken/rusted loose from the spindle so adjustment from above is impossible. My question is, can i adjust by trying to turn spindle or can i buy the bits on their own. Hopefully some of you will have experienced this and can advise. Otherwise lovin the rest of it although i've also got the self ticking indicator relay problem but that seems to be resolved by spraying electrical cleaner in the stalk??? Thanks.

gez if you're having real problems with the lights let me know, i have a set of un-used original vw lights that i bought for a repair that never happened.

Unfortunately for me the boxes got a bit of water damage during the past few weeks from a burst pipe so i couldn't return them to dealer and i'm stuck with them. They might do your car but it may be too late a model, the ones i have are Hella 3B0 941 016 L/R

If they will fit and you're interested let me know. At the moment they're gathering dust and i'd rather get a few quid back and see them put to use than lying about where they might get damaged.

    There is a thread....
    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...t=brass+tubing

I fixed mine and can adjust them with my fingers now. If you get tubing that is a bit too big, mix epoxy and powdered glass. I crushed glass from an old light-bulb with pliars (wear goggles) into dust and mixed it with the epoxy and put it over the spindle and in the tube. Also be careful not to glue the spindle where it comes out of the lamp housing so stop short as you push the tubing on and/or put a dob of vaseline where the spindle comes out of the headlight.
