    Hi All

I have a 2002 MK4 with adjustable dimming dashboard lighting. When I turn the dial thing to adjust the brightness, the dash lighting flickers then settles down to mostly the setting I want.

Not sure if this will be a problem should it continue, but it crossed my mind that if could cause something electrical to blow.

Any idea what might cause this problem?

    Cheers
    T.

my best quess is either dodgy wire conection round back of switch or dodgy electrical conection from the variable resistor that is the switch.
I had this on my old golf and just got 1 free out of similar golf in breakers yard. Problem fixed.
However it's slightly possible that the fuses could need cleaning

I have this happening on mine too. Doesn't bother me too much, but when I have time, I'll get the roller-resistor-thing out and check it.

One other thing I have is that occasionally when using the indicator or pressing the brake pedal, the blue dash lights flicker off ever so slightly.

    Any ideas on this one?

Could possibly be an earthing problem. Check that the battery terminals are tight and free from corrosion and that the main earth to the bodywork is good.

As for the dash lights problem - try removing the adjuster a give it a squirt of solvent. Would be better to pull it apart and clean it thoroughly if possible.
