    Good evening ladies and gents
I bought from one of my customers a 1994 GTi without transponder keys. I didnt think I'd have a problem getting keycodes and log in details to programme new keys from VW, HOWEVER My local VW agent tells me that basically VW no longer support this vehicle and will not provide any details to enable me (the owner) to fix my car. They weren't even interested in sorting it if |I dragged the car in. I suppose its another attempt to drive old cars off the road. SO can anybody tell me how to bypass the immobiliser and get this little sweetie back on the road?
    Thanks
    Andrew Moorey

Easiest way is probably to get a new ecu and set of keys from ebay or a breakers.

RAC hotwired mine on Saturday, bypassed the alarm system. Problem is that central locking is part of the alarm circuit so it's now a pain in the A to get in the car, but doable. Once key is in the ignition the CL works and the car starts OK.

There's a control box behind the glovebox, you should be able to bypass the system by shorting the connectors (I think, from memory, it was the two cables at the end, but I can open it up and check later if you like)

This week I'm costing up (a) having it removed completely, (b) having a new system fitted, and (c) doing nothing and putting up with the ballache

I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks mate. Would be interesting to know how its done. My local VW commercial dealer reckons its a load of bull that I have been told re codes etc and says he will code the new keys for me later this week as soon as I can drag the little puppy over to him.

Sounds about right... Coincidentally, my friend told me last night that he got a new remote fob mapped for his (M reg) Polo system for about Ł45, so I'm gonna give that a go too. Of course, if my alarm system is faulty, then that'd be Ł45 down the drain!

But if it does work, it'll circumvent the faulty lock barrel in my o/s door... Currently I have to climb in through the n/s door, but I've always had to open the car via the n/s anyway, so that would be a very nice outcome, not only to not have to walk around the car any more but also to be able to un/lock it remotely. Getting quite excited about having this fixed!

A 94 doesn’t have the transponder system. What is the engine code (2E, ADY or AGG)? And is the chassis number later than wvwzzz1HzSW120001. The letter highlighted here denotes the year so R is 94, S is 95, T is 96 etc.

Mine's an aftermarket system. Think it's VAG dealer fitted but not sure.

The one with the socket in the glove box, that is no longer supported and will have to be removed.
