Glove box light in bits

Does anyone know what it should look like? I pulled out my glovebox a few months ago without realising that the light would end up in bits (see pic)... I've tried putting it back together with no joy.

I'm on my 3rd one of these!

I 'did' two on the Golf and one on the Passat which is still sat in bits in the glovebox. I've never managed to mend one !

They are only about £8 from VW.

Note to self; remember to take it out first beofre pulling the glovebox, d'oh.

Yeah - you ain't kidding. That's exactly what I did - pulled the glovebox out before disconnecting the light!

Sam - if you could take a pic or two, that would help. If it really is missing something, then I'll give VW a call.

From your picture it looks like everything is there.

Here's my assembled lamp;

I tried to show how the spring attaches here, which is difficult to photograph. I can attempt to explain it if it's not obvious;

I can also send high-res pics if these don't help.

Hi Guys - I have managed to achieve the same thing - glove box light in pieces. I can see one end of the spring - on the copper strip - where does the other end go? Its driving me mad!

Gamma stereo, IPOD extension that I fitted (and ran lead into glove box) sounds and works fantastic though! If I can get the light working again its happy days!

To be honest, I can't remember how I did it

, apart from a bit of spring tensioning. I remember thinking afterwards though 'that was easy'. I'll grab my light when I go out in a mo & see if I can take some more pics to complement Sam's...
