    Hi there,

Ive got a Mk3 Golf GTI Preg and have a few issues with it.. When I go to start it, it cranks over but doesnt want to fire. I have found that if i wiggle the key or hold it a particular angle it starts.. Im thinking the ignition switch is playing up??

I also have a issue when driving, the car seems to cough and judder around a lot as if its being strangled somehow??

Any ideas or suggestions would be much apprieciated..

    Thanks for your time

    P

It might not be reading the transponder in the key properly.

Had same problem on my 1997 GL 2.0 Golf. I replaced the electrical part of the ignition switch and problem solved. It would die just driving around or on the Highway but if I wiggled the key when starting after an engine die the it would fire up again.
