    HI all,

Just after some advice. I have recently bought a 2006 2.0 tdi 140 sport passat. I went to use my sat nav in it for the first time the other day, only to realise that the cigarette lighter/12v power socket in the centre console and the rear passenger seat area are not working. The one in the boot however is fine. When I looked at the owners manual to locate the fuse, it makes no sense to me what so ever. A lot of the fuses in the manual either aren't there or are in a different side/place. It states that the fuses for the above power sockets should be 20amp fuses (yellow), but the only two I can see that are yellow in either side of the car are for the parking brake. Does this mean that the power sockets didn't work from day one (this i find hard to believe as surely it comes as standard and is not an optional extra). Also can anyone point me in the direction of a correct fuse layout diagram so I can locate where the fuses for the power sockets should be located.

    Many thanks

    david

Firesharpe, without wanting to state the obvious, did you have the ignition on when you checked it out, because the sockets won't work otherwise.

On a related point, does anyone know if there's any easy way round this problem and making the sockets live all the time? Could VW do it by reprogramming the car, for example, or is it a bit more involved than that?

    You have 3 options:
    1. Get your car rewired by an auto electrician
    2. Leave the ignition on
    3. Give them an I-Spy book and tell the ungrateful little blighters to make their own entertainment like I had to in the back of father's horseless carriage. Why can't kids just enjoy fighting and spilling orange juice all over the back seats anymore?
