    Hi,

has anyone had problems with the handrake not releasing and the hanbrake button light flashing with a warning on the display.
Dont know if it has anything to do with the temerature but it was minus 7 degrees and after a couple of attempts going back and forth it released itself and been ok since.

    Cheers in advance

It's possible that the pads had frozen to the discs. As with conventional handbrakes it's best just to leave the car in gear if it's likely to go below freezing after it's been wet (or snowy!).

Haven't had it happen again so i'm hoping it was the temperature that caused the problem.

Slimgeo. The electronc handbrake is just a motor which screws in and pushes the pads on. When you press the handbrake button to release the brake, the motor winds back. It doesn't pull the pads back. So in that sense it can't get stuck. The pads could of course be frozen to the disc as Quatrelle says.

If the problem comes back .They do suffer probs, If battery voltage drops is one. There is a modified switch and a software update for problems.
