    Hello There.
    I have a 1.2 - 3 Cylinder Polo (02)., MK5 I guess?
Oil and Filter change. Got the Filter assembly away from the engine, but could not get the filter itself out of the filter body. Seems to have a spring behind it,. Tried unscrewing it, tried pushing down against the spring and twisting expecting it to unclip. Gave up and so gave the car an oil change, but no filter change. Must be dead easy, whats the secret ?

Pull! One thing, be extremely cautious bringing a 3 cylinder VW engine up after an oil change, they have a horrible habit of air locks entering the chain tensioner which causes the chain tension to slacken off and…well you can guess the rest.

Thanks Crasher. Being an engineer , I find it againstmy principles to be brutal, especially with the flimsy way things are put together these days. Cheers.
