    Hi

Woundered if someone could help. I have a 1.6 t Golf with 76k. When adding some more oil today i noticed that there was some Creamy white stuff on the oil cap. That means to me that the head Gasket is on its way out or has gone.

Can someone shed some light on it. The car had a Cambelt change at 60k over 3 years ago and i think the person that owed it didnt do much miles as i pick it up with 15k more 3 years later.

I have checked the dip stick and thats fine. Just a bit worred as its a nice car.

Can anyone shed any light on this. Is it the head gasket or something else. The car runs like a dream so.

    Thanks for looking

    Rich

Mayo on the cap and in the breather of an AKL engine is quite normal and nothing to worry about. If it starts drinking coolant, then worry.

it's probably just condensation causing it, like he says if it drinks alot of coolant then worry.
