    Hi Guys,

I ordered my first new car back at the beginning of December through my local dealer and was advised it should be here by end of February. I have spoken with him again recently to find out if there is any update and he said he was not sure what was happening as it still had no delivery date. Has anyone else bought a new one around this time and what kind of lead times have you been advised?

FYI its 1.4 TFSI Sport 3 door

    Thanks,

Hi Dougy. I too ordered a new A3 at the start of DEC 08. Although i was quoted March 09 for mine.

I am aware every dealer is slightly different. I know a dealer at the same time i brought the car quoted April. You could get it for FEB. Depends what allocation your dealer/group has.

My dealer called a few weeks ago and said it should start production about now. (6th feb to mid feb) I would guess this is a unconfirmed build.
I havn't heard anything else. I should be getting it about mid march he said. But will keep me updated.

Who knows, he may give you a call next week and confirm a collection date. He did say, I won't hear from him until it's at the port. So once it is in the UK he can give me an accurate date of collection. (delivery from port to parking lot. Parking lot to dealer. Then the PDI check.) I'm guessing mines coming end march.

I ordered the 1.4 tfsi s-line. I saw you went for the sport. There seems to be a big list on these 1.4 and 1.9tdi engines.

You gonna hang on till the 1st of march and get the new 09 plate?

    Thanks for replying.

I live in Jersey therefore all a car goes by is the year... simple really.

It all seems fine at the dealer and he said he may use his special dealer route (which can be quicker). Currently driving round in a 92 fiesta therefore keen to get my hands on it. I see you went for the full kit. Reason I didnt do S-Line is because of hearing about the suspension being too firm.

    Hello Dougy.

I'm in Guernsey and ordered a 2.0 TFSI S-Line Black Edition 6-speed manual 3-door on about 7th January.

I was told by Jacksons over here that I have a week 7 build date, and am expecting delivery 2 or 3 weeks after that .... so mid-March I hope.

    Chris

not sure how they get to the channel islands. May be via France?

Anyway, the sport is a good car (got one now). As far as im aware, the suspension is the same. Just the wheel size is different. On the sport its 17" but the s-line is 18". I fidn the sport quite hard. But you get a better look over the SE version.

My mate moans about it, but he doesn't know what he's talking about. (someone driving around in Yaris.)

Sport/s-line packages are a lot harder over the overall SE edition. I've driven the S-line ver also, prefer it. I was always sticking s-line trim on my sport. lol....may awell go for the s-line this time round.

What options have you gone for? Also did you go for the USB port in the end?

No USB option for me - thought about it but thought in the end that i would just put a load of MP3's on a CD and work off that. I am thinking of adding the 6 CD changer though to cater for this (as not starting building yet, hopefully not too late).

Only options we went for were Xenon's / Type Pressure / Meteor Grey / folding mirrors

Not many options - was tempted with bluetooth but here in jersey we don't drive long enough to warrant it and if we were to go to France, mobile would be off anyway

although i went for the symphony player (integrated 6cd) i get bored of burning discs. My CD wallet is huge! its all the same stuff, just variations. (like another track from an album added)

So the usb would be best. Also my mac takes ages to make CD's. I always end up leaving this to the end, when im about to set of on a journey.

Also with the symph player, i could add the nav plus if needed. (not many places you could get lost in jersey)

Xenons is good feature and worth splashing on. Especially on the newer models. (get the daylight led)

Did you hear back from the dealer?
Mine called earlier to say it was in the final stages of production. They will contact me shortly.

Really? My dealer has just told me it's another 2 months to wait due to a high demand for the tfsi 1.4. I'm not happy as we wanted it for my girlfriends birthday. Tempted to cancel to be honest as very ****** off. He has offered an additional 300 off but that is irrelevant as we really need it sooner rather then later!

yeah, my dealer said there was a demand for it. He said...if you ordered it today, you may as well wait a few more weeks then order it for a 59' plate...
Im not sure if the list is ambitious. They say XXX amount of time. But its less. I thought it was going into production this week...but to hear its almost done...quick...

Again...it could be to do with your location too? Also, you do have a right to cancel...if there is a delay. However, don't let this dishearten you. There is another thread on this forum where someone wanted it for christmas. ...then told jan 09!

They got it nice and early, 2 weeks before christmas. p.s you do know the factory is closing for a few days? 5 days, not sure when though.

So 2 months...that makes your ETA may 09? Bit harsh to be only given £300...if your trading a car in, it would prob loose £500 by that time!!! (mine has )

On the bright side i am contemplating chaning the spec from sport to s-line as getting the cloth / leather seats already and xenon's would be cheaper... Think i will pop in some point this week to discuss further.

Should be ordered through the usual way however we have a larger delivery charge!!!

Unfortunatly there is no competition over here - a group call Jacksons has the monopoly over the whole channel islands.

They don't even do the A3 service plan
