    Hi
    i bought a passat tdi 130 (2003) 60,000 miles, earlier this week and believe there is an issue with gearbox or clutch???
    When stationary it is difficult engaging 1st gear. it doesn't matter whether i have just started the journey or 3 hours in, it is still as difficult. there is quite a lot of resistance.
    Any help would be great before taking car down to local garage.

    1st gear is tight on these my 1.8t is tight and has done 83000mls i usually engage 1st as car is still moving slightly
    or if stationary select 2nd then 1st

    If it goes into reverse ok the clutch is ok.

    it goes into reverse ok yeah. thats one worry off my mind.

    will see what the garage says
