    Default Steering error? – 05-02-2009,11:46 PM
    I set off tonight to go out for a spin in the passat and next thing I get an error on the display saying along the lines of " Steering column locked - Visit Workshop"

    Does anyone have any idea's? I have had nothing but crap from the car and think it maybe time to depart with my dear passat!

    I switched the engine off and back on it is does not appear any more

    steering lock
    last 3 of these faults i have had were due to the steering column itself
    there was a modified column fitted i recall the last 2 digits of the column ecu was AC get his checked on diag machine
    if this is the case then you will need steering column and modified convienience ecu
