    Hi,

Last Friday evening when I started my 1.9TDI 130 the Check Brake Pads warning came up.

Now I knew that I would need a Rotor and Pad change all round this year, and I have the new bits sitting in the Garage waiting to be changed.

However I took off both front wheels and the Pads look like they still have a fair bit of wear left, and the warning hasn't appeared since.

Would you expect the Check Brake Pads warning to appear more than once, or was it a one off 'fault' ??

some wear indicators are 50% up the pad face , the light comes on when the sensor uses the disc to break a contact , thus the light comes on . if it gets on your nerves and you know pads are ok , cut the 2 wires at the pad and join them together and the light wont light anymore.

Also, the lip around the edge of a worn disc can cut into the edge of the pad where the sensor is thus cutting it prematurely.

Just changed my front discs and pads on my 2003 tdi sport and noticed that the pad wear was uneven. Before i took the pads out there looked like there was loads of material left but the wear indicator wires were just starting to rub

When i took the discs off the inboard side of the disc had a very pronounced ridge which you could not see but the pad showed the wear quite clearly so it was definitly time to replace them.

Have fitted Brembo discs and Jurid pads both from GSF and what a difference. The car has got 73k on the clock.
If it ain't broke leave it alone!!!
