    Dear All,

This is my furst post having just joined and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction with a problem.

On my way into work this morning my '99 1.4cl polo lost a lot of engine power and would not go above 20-30mph.

Upon stopping the idle was very lumpy and the car stutterd when trying to pick up the revs.

Have stopped the engine and re-started with exactly the same symptoms.

Has anyone any experience with the same or similar problem?

Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.

    Many Thanks

    When was it last serviced?
When were the plugs last changed?
    Are you using supermarket petrol?

It was last service in July. About 8000 miles ago. Since I have had it, it has been serviced regularly.
I haven't tried the plugs, but all of the HT leads appear to be sparking.
Yes I do use supermarket fuel.

It has actually become worse now to the point that the car will not start.
It will turn over but will not catch unless the accelerator is fully depressed to the floor and even then it will not continue to run????
