Do you 'live to work' or 'work to live' ?

Do you work for a big company?

    Family run company?

    Your own company?

Do you think you are 'indispensible' to your work? Irreplaceable? Like the place would not run without you?

Do you put work above everything/everyone else in your life?

Do you think work is the most important thing in your life? If not, what is?

Personally, work to me is a something i have to do to live the rest of my life

personally, i work from home, in order to pay the bills and the mortgage. in the past i have worked for other people, but never felt i was indespensible, and really didnt care about it. i hate these people who win the lotto, then say they will not stop working. ***, have some fun. if i won enough, i would never work to earn money again, just spend the rest of my days playing with my own car collection(purchased with winnings).so yeah, i work to live.

    No work = no money.

(that is if you're not sponging of the state )

Therefore work's very important, as it enables me to provide for my wife and child.

    Beats chest...

However at the end of the day (sorry for the cliché) you only have one stab at this world, so you have to work to live, not live to work..life's too short.
Nothing to see here, move along..

Work is important it has to be done to pay the bills and like most people i have taken work way too seriously at times
family life and life outside of work is way more important though.

Similar to Zollaf above i have always said if i won the lotto i would just post my laptop back to work and go about enjoying the winnings....not that i will ever have to worry about that though

I work for money, so I can spend it, enjoy it and have a happy life.

I've two jobs, part-time in the property maintenance industry. I work for a family run property rental company in Didsbury for 3 days a week, then work for myself the other 4 days (I work all week usually). I'm a property maintenance engineer, the only one for the company (apart from contractors) in Didsbury so I'm pretty important, although you wouldn't have thought it if you worked there!

I'm sort of irreplaceable in my own company, after all I'm the one who runs it. Its a 1 man company, assisted financially by my wife and sometimes my son.

Work is not important to me, its important to my bank balance.

    Wha' 'e said ^

I'm lucky enough to do something I enjoy for a living as well. There's no way I'm spending a third of the prime years of my life not doing something I find enjoyable (most of the time, by no means ALL of the time!! )
Actually I'm not lucky to do what I do, I studied long and hard & got in 'swear' loads of debt to do something I enjoy! I'm lucky enough to have decent supportive parents who wanted me to have the opportunities they didn't. I'm also lucky that I went to uni yonks ago before the fee charges were brought in and the UK took yet another step backwards!!

Personally, work is there to pay for my personal life and not the other way around. This probably explains a lot of my reviews coming out as adequate rather than exceeds expectations. Having said that money is not the reason I come to work, I do (mostly) enjoy my job and find it rewarding which is the main reason I work where I do. My last job I didn't enjoy and that lasted just under 9 months before I started looking and it took me 3 months to get the right job. Previous to that I had worked for the same company for 8 years.
I've done the working for myself bit (didn't enjoy it) and have migrated to larger companies who actually care about their employees.

Never be indespensible though, otherwise you just get pigeon holed with no prospects and no opportunities.

I cannot imagine many would say the live to work even though alot do.

If you had asked 5 years ago I would of said live to work. I do like my job and it is rewarding but at the end the day going home is more important.

Lucky enough to be doing a job I like, but love home life and cars soo much more.

    It's a Mercedes Benzzzz though

Work for myself, live to work. Even if I won the lottery big time, I would still work. In fact I would build the best VAG workshops imaginable. How sad is that!
