    Hi when connecting vagcom to vw t4 via obd2 - usb cable what ecu type should i be selecting..??
    Should the ignition be switched on/off or engine running...???
    all instructions and help welcome im a newbie to vagcom, i have searched the forum first but couldn't really find anything specific to help with my situation.

    Ignition switch on for all tests with VAG-COM. The engine does not have to be running to run a fault scan. Other procedures may require engine running.

    You identify the Chasis by looking at the 7&8 characters in the VIN number. Select the chassis from those numbers.

    Seems you may not have visited the Ross-Tech web site. Ross-Tech is the creator of VAG-COM and our web site is loaded with good technical information.

    May I suggest you start with the Interactive Online Manual? The I would suggest you look at the Info page.
