Blimey, wasn't that long ago was it? Deffo Ford and a tractor.

ABS is really good in slippery conditions if you have to brake sharply, not so good if the car behind hasn't got it though....

I must say tonight I have had some FUN!!! in the snow.

On a cinema by are house around 20 cars being hooligans going around donuts and what not slipping + sliding but the car performed as all the other cars there were mainly hot hatches i.e. subaru sti and golf gti.

Same as the first post my car acts in the exact same way but I would say just to take it slow in the snow as im sure everyone knows anyway but the traction control is very unconvienent at the most important times when it cuts the power!

Has anyone tried this with a DSG box.
This is exactly what I would have done in a manual but recently when stuck in some mud I tried to manually select 2nd on the DSG but it wouldn't allow it

sounds about right, needs to start in first, one of the downsides to an otherwise fantastic system

Well I took the Vitara out in the snow instead of the Passat; woohoo, had some fun in the deserted Sainsbury car park, making like an overage chav. It was kinda nice to "get back to basics" in that everything that happened was because I was driving, not "the system". Engage 4 wheel drive though and it all becomes much more predictable

I very much appreciate the clever systems that are included in the Passat but I am very glad that I can turn the ESP off, you wouldn't want to be halfway across a level-crossing when it decides "no, you can't do that..."

Agreeing with all that has been said about driving thinking ahead and starting in 2nd etc.

    Thanks for all your posts.

If you have DSG do the following:

    select manual mode (1st)
    floor it!
    Change up every 2k
Managed to get to 4th on the car park during the snow whilst just creaping forward

nearly managed to get to 5th, but traction was building rapidly so had to back off.

Gona miss this car when it goes next week. Mucho fun till then

Press and hold the handbrake button. I'm not responsible for what happens after that.
