    Hi
    New here so this might seem like a daft question. First what is the significance of the red lettering on the TDi badge? Some I have seen have have a red Di and some only have the i in red. Second is there a way of telling the diference between a S and a SE model?

    Many thanks

    Welcome aboard!

    On the Golf platform you have the following;

    TDI = 90HP and 100 HP pd
    TDI = GT TDI 110hp and 115hp PD and some 100hp pd engines eg final edition golf.
    TDI = 130hp pd
    TDI = 150 hp pd

    The Passat only came in 90, 100, 110, 115 and 130bhp so adjust the values above accordingly.

    S vs SE

    SE gets alloys and locking nuts, has the option of leather seats and a CD changer.

    I recommend you use www.whatcar.com comparison tool for used cars.

    Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

    Of course, since the model letters are commonly available and just stuck on, you can have whatever engine power you want.

    yup, to the OP, mycarsavw is simply highlighting what the badges should mean.... i dont think he means to refer to them as gospel for the BHP of the engine, you must use the 3 digit engine code, found in the tyre well and on the inside of the service book.

    as for the difference between S & SE, correct me if im wrong, but the major difference is the remote central locking/alarm & air con. SE came with a remote central locking alarm as standard? the alloys are a good point too, wheel trims = S

    Hi
    Thanks for the replies. I now have the engine code which is AWX, I am being told that the car is a 130 bhp engined model. I have search for some insurance quotes tonight but when I enter the reg number they return a 110 bhp variant. Can anyone confirm this engine code as I dont want to by the wrong one.
    Thanks

    Thanks

    AWX is 96Kw 130BHP model year 2001-02
    AVF is 96 Kw 130BHP year 2001-02

    This is off the correct documentation, if you give me the year I can double check.
