Not good about the timing belt. I know another couple of owners - that have suffered the same problem.

Might be worth looking at the fuel injection pump. With replacement timing belt and engine work - it may need to be re-synched with the ECU. Vag.com may give you some pointers.

Check this link (get yourself a brew first!)

Hi mate, what milage did the belt go? had it been changed before? might be worth checking the temp sensor, they can cause poor starting. or No3 injector.

It could be the timing is slightly out or maybe one of the fuel line underneath is split. I had that recently. Check for a fluid type leak under the drivers door.

    hey thanks
the car is sittin at 120k
belts were done b4 at 82k , but wot happend was the casing around the belt at the crankshaft cracked and jammed and it broke the belt.
so it bust 12 rockers , i removed both sets of cam shafts .....to retrieve bits was a job on its own !! by the way theyr 6.87 each .
and not knowin that she breaks the rockers, i then took ds head off to check for valve damage..thats wen i wiped my brow and said thank **** they are alrite.

with a few calls ifound out the settings and locked all the places off, crankshaft, fuel i pump and made a wee plate to lock the cam shafts
so belts on and after a few attempts got the fuel pump set ..well it sounds ok , prob needs put on to audi comp to set it prop tho.

this was on 1 of my mates lifts..he is a prop mech. dred to thinkwot it wud have cost if i had taken it to audi.. cost me 60 quid for the lift, plus parts an took me a week.
and got a mate to give me a hand, which was fine wen takin her apart, but on the buildin bak up had 2 go behind him to check the things he said that he had tightned up...good jobi did too.lol put the comp on her and reset everything
    and here we are now.....
