VW Golf Coolant Loss – 24-01-2009,11:18 AM

I have a VW Golf GT FSI that is loosing coolant.

My local deeler says it needs a new cylinder head. I suspect this is because the head is cracked. The vehicle is only 5 years old and has done 39,000 miles. Is this a common fault and will VW help with the cost of replacement?
