Hello all, I know this has been discussed already, and I tried searching, but couldn't find an answer. The boot in my golf is soaked (02 GT TDI 130), the water has gone forward and soaked the back passenger footwell, which was a puddle today. Trouble is, the threads are all concentrating on sunroofs and door seals, but mine's a 3 door with no sunroof.

I have taken the panel away in the boot (on the passenger side) and it's wet in there next to the vent, but the vent doesn't look damaged in any way. I have only recently had new rear light clusters fitted, but the leak was there before them. Anyone got any ideas? Is there a common place for the water to come in on these?

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I should probably expand a wee bit on this. The car was in a crash where a BMW 5 series hit the back quarter (and bent the rear axle) of the car as I was turning off the road (guy was an idiot, trying to pass on the inside(!)).

So the rear quarter had to get some repairs around the arches, but there was no damage toward the light clusters, the reason they were replaced was that the garage broke them. Anyway, the clusters were fitted in by a VW garage, so I imagine they would have done the seals properly (or i'd hope so!)

The leak has only appeared since the crash (i think, it was summer, so there wasn't much water). The garage told me it might be the vent in the rear quarter, but the checked it and it's fine. It looks fine to me too. The water gets in while the cars still too. I have looked all round the boot seal, and there's nothing obvious.

Any other ideas where it could be coming from? If it was from the car's arial would the roof get wet first?

Sorry for all the detail, but I'm at a loss here! :-D

..but make sure the mate outside the boot will let you out afterwards, it has the making of a rather amusing (for the other guy) plan..
