I have 2007 2.5 T5 with an intermitent fault that basically VW have given up on. To be fair they have tried and tried ,but the intermitent nature of it means you could run it all week and nothing will happen, then the next day all hell breaks loose in the engine dept.

My "last resort" idea is to buy one of these VAG COM fault code readers and just leave it plugged in as I go about my business and hopefully register a fault, that I can then call the dealership and point them in the right direction.

All I want is something that will record a fault code....so what do you suggest?
Hi Andy just wondering if you ever found the fault on your transporter, i may have a similar fault on my 06 1.9tdi transporter. thanks aled.

    Hi, in short no!

The Van was in the garage again a few weeks ago after I got a code 00668. They said they found a coroded earth strap to the ECU, which at the time seemed to be in the right direction. I took the van away and drove it around for a week, then it started up again ( infact I've just got out of it and it was playing up for the last 10 mins of the journey. My mate, also a T5 owner felt it ,so I'm not going mad)

Do you get a smell as well? Like burning wood? I do.

If you get anywhere with VW pls let me know.
