Reversing lights not working.

Hello everyone.

I'm new to the site and pleased to have bought my first VW. It's an old Sharan but seems in really good condition. The only problem I can find is that the reversing lights do not work. Both bulbs are fine. So it must be either a break in the wiring or the switch has gone. It looks from the fuse info in the manual as though the fuse for reversing lights is also the fuse for a great deal of other things, but everything else is okay. Does anyone know where the switch would be situated? Would it be near the bottom of the gearstick or buried somewhere deep? Any ideas more than welcome.

Hi my sharan is a 1998 when i bought it reverse light not working had a new reverse switch its on the gear box they work now

Thanks Daddy. Mine's a 98 model too. A GL. Sounds like that must be the problem then. All I have to do now is locate the switch.

Hi I have a 2001 1.9tdi sharan. Checked the reversing bulbs and they are ok. Took the switch out of the gearbox and operated by hand but still won't work so I tested the switch on a bulb with the car battery and it works fine. Is there a fuse somewhere that might have blown?? Thanks
