That code means an injection timing problem. The pump is firing at the wrong time and the needle lift sensor on injector 2 is reporting this to the ecu which shows a fault.

Is it accompanied by any other codes? If so then it could be electronic in nature. If not then its probably mechanical.

Mine did exactly the same when this happened:

Ran rough, went in to limp mode and wouldn't rev over 2k. The variation allowed by the belt wobbling around allowed the valves to hit the pistons which smashed most of the lifters The engine is now in the kitchen getting rebuilt.

I would be very wary of driving it like this, just in case it is mechanical like mine. It only takes a couple of degrees to throw this code up I think, but there is very little room for error in the physical timing too.

It could be the pump ecu, but from my research that tends to throw additional codes as well as the 00550.

I'd start by removing the plastic belt covers and make sure the belt is tight. I could see loads of play in mine so it was easy to spot.

    Good luck!

    Mikki
