It's a good price, assuming it's a 5 door typical valuation based on a mileage of £71k is......

    Dealer price: £6,350
    Private price: £6,010

As they are going bust, they are selling the car to you as trade/auction price which is around £4,835. All 1.9TDi Golf engines will be 105bhp and not the 90bhp which appears on the Golf Plus S/Luna. To cover yourself on the abs control try to haggle a warranty deal to be included in the price. If they can't provide a warranty try an online company such as www.warrantydirect.co.uk. Obtain an online quote but don't buy online let them call you back and haggle the price - warrantydirect sales staff are desperate to secure sales under the current financial climate. Good luck!

By saying 'fail' if you are referring to the abs control unit I should have said IF it develops a fault. Who knows it may have been replaced already but either way at least you have the piece of mind with the aa warranty.

Anything upto £1500 at a franchised dealer, I'm sure costs will be lower at VW specialist. But again there may be nothing to worry about especially the age and mileage of the car you are planning to buy.

Congrats, a bargain at that price. Good news here is that even though the Mk6 Golf Plus will be released in the summer, it is very much identical to the Mk5 apart from the front grille, so, your daughter's SE will not look out of date.

thanks again..also you where right in what you said about the warranty company..got a quote from them & one from Quentin Wilson's sight and quoted £25 a month until canceled..the one you quoted me..rang me back as you said i told them i had been on the phone to other firm & guess what iv got a spot on warranty for £18 per month even wear & tear throw in & unlimited claims of £5k per claim...again £18per month...so thats the money pit vw sorted out.had to get it couldnt knock that back as you probably know there are no cheap repairs on a vw...so my daughters other warranty 6 months worth is getting given away with her 03 plate mk2 megane diesel 1.5dci that is up for sale also more or less giving that away with what she is asking for it..anyway thanks again for your input done me proud...
