Hi just got a 2002 a4 1.9 tdi, The tempreture gauge will sit at the correct half way mark the just drop to zero, and sometimes not even work at all, Car run's fine and doesent over heat.

I think myby it need's a new tempreture senser fitting but not sure.

Also noticed some funny electrical robotic like noise from behind the dash, It is like something is trying to set in position, myby it's the climate control, Also climate control seems a bit tempremental.

Any advice on the above will be muchly appricaited, Thank You.

Temperature problem will be the sender unit, cheap and easy to replace. 'tis a pretty common problem, and a two minute fix. Perhaps you could get the climate control robot to do it for you?

Hi, I've just bought an A4 2.0 FSI '52' reg with the same simptoms, including the continual climate adjustment noise you have described. I've just bought a new engine temp sensor from Audi at £27 I'll let you know if it works.

Excellent - good luck with it. The temp dial is almost certainly the sender unit.

My 2001 1.9TDi has the same issue. I replaced temp sender but it didn't cure the problem. Is there anything else that can be checked? If not I'm going to live with it. Too costly for a replacement gauge!!

Audi forums are littered with faulty temperature gauges. The Audi TT had dashboards replaced as so many failed. My personal opinion is that there cannot be so many faulty temp senders but faulty gauges. I could be wrong but I've head from other websites that it didn't fix. Someone one selling temp gauges on their own. Not sure I fancy stripping the dash.

It's worth replacing sender as they do fail and it could cure the problem.
