Got into my 2006 Passat on a cold morning (80,000 miles on clock now)

Pressed brake pedal. No resistance. Foot travelled to floor. Same happened when I pressed second time. On third attempt worked normally.

Drove car (very carefully) for further 1500 miles without incident

Last week same thing happened. Pressed pedal with NO resistance.

Took car to VW dealer who can find no problem

Not sure what they are going to do now - but I'm not prepared to drive it.......... Bit of a stalemate really!

    Help!!

Sounds like master cylinder because abs problems usually show trouble codes. Simple old fashioned mechanical faults don't. You can't drive it like this without lots of spare underpants.

    Thanks

Thankfully its a lease car & someone else' problem - but you've come to the same conclusion as me!

I've had NO warning lights at all. Just a loss of almost all braking power.........

Same thing happened to me recently, but this was when the brakes were soaking wet after I cleaned the car. Were the brakes wet when your problem occurred John? VW do have a mechanism that wipes the brakes dry when the wipers are on though. Maybe this isn't working?
